چکیده

Mixing applications operating in the laminar regime are used numerous industrial processes pharmaceutical, chemical, and food industries. The aim of this paper is to introduce a numerical model adapted solid-liquid mixing situations stirred tanks. method presented herein based on Euler-Lagrange approach using CFD-DEM method. This couples computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for with discrete element (DEM) solid particles. We rotating frame reference approach, which first its kind CFD-DEM. In we discuss main issues related modeling complex impeller geometries, explain various involved conducting simulation non-inertial frame, compare our experimental results obtained pitched blade turbine and, lastly, use study double helical ribbon.

Cfd Simulation of Solids Suspension in Stirred Tanks: Review

Many chemical reactions are carried out using stirred tanks, and the efficiency of such systems depends on the quality of mixing, which has been a subject of research for many years. For solid–liquid mixing, traditionally the research efforts were geared towards determining mixing features such as off-bottom solid suspension using experimental techniques. In a few studies that focused on the de...

CFD Modeling of Gas-Liquid Hydrodynamics in a Stirred Tank Reactor

Multiphase impeller stirred tank reactors enhance mixing of reacting species used in a variety of chemical industries. These reactors have been studied based on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) that can be used in the analysis, design and scale up of these reactors. Most of the researches done in this area are limited to single phase reactors, and a few remaining two phase flow investigat...

Macro-instability: a chaotic flow component in stirred tanks.

Chaotic features of the macro-instability (MI) of flow patterns in stirred tanks are studied in this paper. Datasets obtained by measuring the axial component of the fluid velocity and the tangential force affecting the baffles are used. Two geometrically identical, flat-bottomed cylindrical mixing tanks (diameter of 0.3m) stirred with either pitched blade turbine impellers or Rushton turbine i...

FLUID MECHANICS AND TRANSPORT PHENOMENA Using CFD To Understand Chaotic Mixing in Laminar Stirred Tanks

High-accuracy CFD results for laminar flow in a stirred tank agitated by three Rushton turbines are used as a starting point for an in-depth analysis of mixing. Asymptotic mixing performance is in®estigated as a function of the Reynolds number by means of Poincare sections, which re®eal large segregated regions with sizes and shapes that ®ary ́ greatly o®er a relati®ely small range of Reynolds n...
